I’ve been using it  for about a year and I never take long trips without it. Fully charged it can provide at least 4 full charges. I do want to point out that like any battery powered device, the full capacity decreases over time. However, unlike many other such devices that I’ve tried, this one hasn’t lost much of it’s capacity in the year I’ve had it. If you have an inductive charge capable device, it supports it, just make sure it supports your specific one. I first used it with my Galaxy S8 and for the last few months with my Galaxy S9 plus. It doesn’t offer the turbo charge support that Samsung devices are capable of, but it’s a fair trade-off if you ask me, to get so much power in your go bag. It also supports traditional wired charging as well.

Office Add-ins allow you to extend your standard Microsoft Office solution into something more. Something that can change how you do business or streamline your Office apps to suit your needs. But taking advantage of them means learning how to create Office APIs, and with that comes the potential for errors. Several of them, in fact, which is why we’ve compiled some of the most common Office API error codes and what you should do when you encounter them.

The Five Common API Codes

When we say “common,” we mean error codes that you might come across while working within the Common API model. These aren’t application-specific error codes, as you might encounter when working with the Word JavaScript API, for instance. Here are some you should pay attention to.

Code 1 – Error.code 1000

Error.code 1000 tells you that you have an invalid coercion type somewhere in your code. Excel gives us a good example here. Excel doesn’t support either the HTML or OOXML coercion types, making this code guaranteed if you try to force it. If you don’t already know, type coercion is the process apps follow to convert one object type to another. If there’s a conflict in that conversion, you’re likely to see this error code.

Code 2 – Error.code 2009

This is an easy error code to draw out because it deals with data objects. The larger those objects get, the more chance one of them ballooning beyond the data limits you’ve defined in your Office application. If you see this code, the solution is to shrink down the data object causing the problem.

Code 3 – Error.code 4000

Any coder can tell you that setting names for objects is key to getting a program running properly. If you don’t do that, you’re liable to run into error.code 4000. You get this code when you specify a setting name that doesn’t exist anywhere inside your API code.

Code 4 – Error.code 5002

Permission denied!

That’s the message you’re receiving when you see this error code. It tells you that you – as the solution developer – are attempting to submit an operation using a document that doesn’t give you the appropriate permissions. You’ll see this a lot if you’re using documents in which you restrict editing.

Code 5 – Error.code 9021

Connection errors happen. When they do, you won’t be able to save your item to the server. That’s what error.code 9021 tells you – there’s a connection error somewhere in your setup that you need to fix. For instance, problems with “Online Mode” when using Outlook Desktop can trigger this error.

Quick Fixes for Common Office API Error Codes

We’ve only touched on a handful of the common Office API error codes you might encounter in your development career. Each has individual fixes that involve you figuring out where your code went wrong and what you have to do about it. But there are a couple of quick potential fixes you can try across all of the codes.

Fix 1. Verify Your Firewall Settings

Your firewall might be getting in the way of the application you’re trying to run. Turning it off, or verifying the firewall’s settings so it’s not trying to block the program you’ve created, could give you a quick fix.

Step 1. Type “Windows Security” into the search bar at the bottom of your screen and click the icon with the same name.

Step 2. Select “Firewall & network protection” from the options on the left and scan your various domains to see their firewall settings. Turning off your domain or private networks may get your API code up and running.

Step 3. Alternatively, click “Allow an app through firewall” and grant the app you’ve created permission to break through your Windows firewall.

Fix 2. Turn Off Microsoft Edge Compatibility Mode

If you get any web-related errors concerning the properties you define, Microsoft Edge running in compatibility mode may be the problem. Here’s how to turn it off.

Step 1. Click on the ellipses – the “…” symbol – at the top-right of Edge and select “Settings.”

Step 2. Head to the “Default Browser” tab using the navigation bar.

Step 3. Select “Don’t Allow” from the drop-down box next to “Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explore mode (IE mode).”

Windows 11 sure loves finding sneaky ways to collect your data. And the worst part is that you may not have even realized that you’ve opted in to some of its data-draining tricks.

Reclaim your privacy with these five ways to stop Windows 11 from collecting personal data.

Method 1: Stop Edge From Collecting Tracking Data

Privacy and Microsoft Edge aren’t friends. The browser is constantly collecting your data to see how you use the web. Getting tighter about the data it tracks is a good start for solving your privacy woes.

Step 1. Select the little ellipses icon at the top-right of your screen and go to “Settings.”

Step 2. Head to “Privacy, search, and services” and toggle on the “Tracking Prevention” option.

Step 3. If you want to get super private about things, select the “Strict” option. That will block almost all trackers websites use, though you may sacrifice some performance in the bargain.

Method 2: Prevent Typing and Voice Data Collection

Microsoft wants to know what you’re saying to your device, and even what you’re typing into it. Granted, it anonymizes the data it collects (or so it says) so you’re not identifiable. However, this form of tracking still feels like an overreach that you can fix with these steps.

Step 1. Type “Settings” into your Windows search bar and select the app that pops up.

Step 2. Head to the “Privacy & security” menu and click “Diagnostics & feedback.”

Step 3. See that “Improve inking and typing” setting? That’s Microsoft’s sneaky name for its typing-based data collection. Turn it off – you don’t need Microsoft’s so-called improvements.

Method 3: Turn Off Edge’s Saved Data

We’re heading back to Edge to disable a few settings that allow Microsoft to collect and share some super-sensitive data.

Step 1. Head into the “Settings” menu using the ellipses icon at the top-right of the screen.

Step 2. Head into “Profiles” and click the arrow next to “Sync.” From here, you should toggle off the “Passwords” and “History” settings, as you don’t need that data being synced across all of your devices.

Step 3. You’re not quite done yet. Head into “Share browsing data with other Windows features,” and toggle it off. This stops Microsoft from sharing your Edge browsing data with other apps in Windows, such as your search bar.

Method 4: Stop Sending Operational Data

Microsoft’s tendrils even extend into how your device is working and how well it functions. The data collected isn’t really all that important and it’s supposedly anonymized. Microsoft uses it to understand how quickly certain apps load on different setups. Still, you might not want to send this data.

Step 1. Head to “Settings” using your Windows search bar and select “Privacy & security” from the navigation menu.

Step 2. Head into “Diagnostics & feedback under the “Windows permission” menu.

Step 3. Toggle off both the “Send optional diagnostic data” and “Tailored experiences” options.

Method 5: Stop Windows 11 From Collecting Personal Data It Sends to Ad Partners

This is the big one – preventing Microsoft from sharing your data with unknown third parties. You need to block your “advertising ID” to make this happen.

Step 1. You’re heading back to the “Privacy & security” section of “Settings” for your first step.

Step 2. Head into the “General” menu you’ll find under “Windows permissions.”

Step 3. Switch the toggle to off for “Let apps show me personalized ads by using my advertising ID.” There are a couple of other potential privacy saves here, including blocking Microsoft from tracking app launches and accessing your language list.

You’re creating posts and getting some solid engagement on LinkedIn but wouldn’t call yourself a true “creator” yet, and certainly not a LinkedIn influencer. You need to step up your content marketing game to make that happen, and you need some help from LinkedIn to do it.

You used to get that help with Creator Mode – LinkedIn’s collection of content marketing tools designed to make your posts visible to the maximum number of users. While this option is gone now, the tools remain, meaning you can still activate Creator Mode on LinkedIn, only in a few different ways.

What Was LinkedIn’s Creator Mode

Creator Mode was a behind-the-scenes toolset designed to improve your post engagement. Its purpose was to amplify your following (and reach) by getting your posts out to as many people as possible. When this mode was active, you would also notice some smart changes on your profile. For instance, your “Connect” button would transform into a “Follow” button, removing one of the big barriers standing in the way of engagement.

Throw in access to some creator-specific features, including the ability to create a newsletter and the LinkedIn Live functionality, and you could turn a solid profile into an influencer one.

You’ll notice we’re speaking in the past tense here.

LinkedIn shuttered Creator Mode in February 2024, which might make you think all these tools have disappeared. But they haven’t – you can still access everything that Creator Mode gave you on LinkedIn, only you have to activate each feature separately.

How to Access Creator Tools on LinkedIn Post Shuttering

As long as you have an active LinkedIn account, you can turn on a couple of the former Creator Mode features. Others require you to meet a few conditions before you can use them, which we’ll cover as we go. First, let’s find those tools.

Step 1: Click the “Me” icon at the top of the screen. Select “View Profile” from the options presented in the drop-down box.

Step 2: Scroll down your profile until you find the private “Analytics” section and click “Show all analytics.” You’ll usually see this just above your “About” bio.

Step 3: Below the basic analytics about your LinkedIn profile – such as who viewed your profile and how many people have interacted with your posts – you’ll find LinkedIn’s Creator Tools. This is the former Creator Mode broken down into its four main sections. You’ll either see “Available” or “Learn More” next to these tools. The former means you can use that creator tool, with the latter telling you that there are some conditions you have to meet first.

So, you have to activate the former Creator Mode’s tools separately on LinkedIn. There are also conditions to meet, which is where this breakdown comes into play.

Tool 1: The Follow Link

As long as you have good standing on LinkedIn and you abide by all of its terms and conditions, you should have the Follow link available. Click “Available” and you’ll see this screen:

Hit the “+ Copy Link” button if you want a text link to your LinkedIn profile you can place on your website. “+ Copy Code” gives you access to the lines of code needed to create a “Follow on LinkedIn” button you can add to your website or app.

Tool 2: Newsletters

If you’re on LinkedIn, you can use creator tools to create newsletters – there’s no other condition required. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1. Head to the top of your LinkedIn home page and click “Write Article.”

Step 2. Click the “Manage” drop-down at the top-right of the screen and select “Create newsletter” from the options.

Step 3. Fill out all details in the pop-up box – including adding a title and any images – before you click “Done.”

With that, you get a newsletter you can publish to your followers and connections on LinkedIn.

Tools 3 and 4: LinkedIn Live and Audio Events

We’re combining these two tools into one because they serve similar purposes and have the same entry criteria. Beyond the standard history of good LinkedIn practices and abiding by the platform’s terms and conditions, there are additional two requirements to access these tools:

• An audience (connections or followers) that exceeds 150.
• A record of recent shares of any original LinkedIn content, such as other people’s posts and videos.

Assuming you meet these requirements, LinkedIn gives you some handy creator tools that allow you to go live on the platform and speak directly to your followers.

The Group Policy Editor for Windows 11 works similarly to its previous versions in Windows 10 or Windows 7. If you’re a system admin, it will allow you to set up “hot desks” shared by multiple organization members, which is practically a given in educational settings and large offices. However, if you don’t follow some basic group policy best practices, you can make the process needlessly complex for both yourself and the users.

Group Policy Best Practices

1. Keep the Default Policy As-Is

The active directory in the Group Policy Editor typically contains two default files: the Default Domain Policy and the Default Domain Controller Policy, with the second located in its dedicated folder.

The first file should only be used to set the Password Policy, the Domain Account Lockout Policy, and the Domain Kerberos Policy. The second sets the User Rights Assignment Policy and the Audit Policy.

2. Don’t Tinker with the Root Domain

The Default Domain Policy file is found in the “root” domain of the level, which means that it applies to all users of the computer and the network, including the administrator. If you make a new policy at that level that contradicts the default, you risk creating account-wide lockouts, even to your system.

If you do need to create a level above the user, implement a department or network-based structure to separate various policy requirements.

3. Disable Unused Configurations and Settings

If your users only need to access the basic configurations and settings to work on the device, you can disable all others. This can slightly improve processing time.

You can implement this by going to the Group Policy Objects in the Group Policy Management console, then right-clicking and expanding GPO Status for a policy you want to modify. Choose between User Configuration Settings Disabled or Computer Configuration Settings Disabled.

4. Disable Software Installations

If you plan to let your users access only the applications already installed on the computer, then it makes sense to disable installing new software. It can prevent users from potentially downloading malware or using third-party software that conflicts with your settings.

This is done by navigating to the Windows Installer settings, as that’s the program that allows setups. Here’s the default path: Group Policy > Navigate to Computer Configurations > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer.

After that, choose “Turn off Windows Installer,” then set the radio buttons to the “Enable” option and “For non-managed applications only” in the “Options” panel.

5. Block Apps from Running

In most cases, however, preventing a computer from installing other software can be a bit of an overkill, especially if your users need some specific programs.

This is done via the System options in the group policy (Group Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System). Use the “Don’t run specified Windows applications” option.

In the dialog box, you need to set the “List of disallowed applications” via the “Show” button. Make sure to enter the application names correctly in the list.

6. Limit Control Panel Access

The control panel can sometimes interfere with user limitations you’ve implemented in the Group Policy settings. To restrict users to what parts of the Panel they can access, go to the Control Panel settings in the application (Group Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel). Then, select “Show only specified Control Panel items” and enter a list of allowed items via the “Show” button in the bottom left panel.

You can use Microsoft’s official Control Panel item list to get the exact names of the items and options you want to enable.

7. Disable the Command Prompt

The command prompt can allow the user to bypass most restrictions you put in place. Therefore, removing the option can improve your private file security. The option is contained within the System settings (Group Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System). Configure the “Prevent access to the command prompt,” set it to enabled, and apply the changes.

8. Hide the Partition Drive

If you plan to have users share a single device, hiding the computer’s system partition can prevent dangerous editing and tinkering. This will ensure that users only have access to the files and apps they’re supposed to.

The setting is implemented through the Windows Explorer options (Group Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer). Go to “Hiding these specified drives on My Computer” and select the drive you’d like to hide in the app’s panel.
