Microsoft Edge is the second most popular web browser for Windows PCs, and it owes that spot due to having a similar structure and user interface to Chrome. This extends to the ability to customize the browser’s appearance, particularly for new blank tabs, to make browsing easier. Here’s how to personalize Microsoft Edge for the best experience possible.
Part 1 – How to Customize Microsoft Edge Feed
By default, Edge will display a series of news snippets, advertisement, and other topics you might find interesting on the main page. The range of these articles can be quite broad, so it might look like a lot of noise. You can cut those topics down to what truly interests you and get more curated news every day.
Step 1. Open a new browser tab in Edge.
Step 2. Click on the “Personalize” button on the right of the news feed.

Step 3. From the list of possible interests, select the ones you’d like Edge to prioritize by clicking on them. You’ll see a list of all the checked options below the menu.

Step 4. If you want to remove specific outlets from the feed, you can do so through the main page. Click on the three dots icon on the news that you want to block and hit “block.”

Step 5. For more content options, go to “Personalize” and select “Content Settings.” This will allow you to add or remove specific cards from the feed.

With these options, you’ll get a news feed on the new tab that more closely aligns with your interests. Furthermore, you can customize how many news items you see on the tab or how prominent the background is through the “Feed layout” menu.

Part 2 – Adding Quick Links to Personalize Microsoft Edge
Apart from the news feed, new tabs can also contain links to frequently used pages. This feature is similar to bookmarks.
Step 1. Open a new tab and select the “Page settings” option on the top right.
Step 2. Under “Quick links” select “1 row” or “2 rows.” Edge will populate the “Quick links” section with commonly-visited websites.

Step 3. Check whether you want the links to open in a new tab. Also check whether you want promotions to appear based on your search history.
Step 4. Click on the small three-dots icon next to a link and select “Remove” if you want to change it to a different one and make space.

Step 5. Click on the plus icon at the end of the row of links to add a new link. Enter the name and the URL of the link into the boxes and click “Add.”

Part 3 – How to Personalize Microsoft Edge With AI Themes
Edge comes with a solid selection of themes and background images to choose from, but they might get boring after a while. Fortunately, Microsoft has created an AI theme generator to make your Edge more…edgier.
Step 1. Go to the Microsoft Edge AI theme creator’s website.
Step 2. Hit “Create a theme.”

Step 3. Enter a prompt into the textbox and select “Create theme.” Clicking “Surprise me” will auto-fill the prompt box. Wait for the process to finish, it might take a minute or so.

Step 4. Choose the main theme color from the list of options or use the color picker (rightmost option), then select “Apply theme.”

Step 5. You’ll get a pop-up prompt to confirm your choice. Press “Apply” to continue and finalize the process.
The theme will be available in the “Themes” section in your Edge’s Settings menu. Selecting a different theme will remove it.

You can play around with different prompts, but you can also choose from a variety of themes in the Edge Add-on store.
